How can healthcare overall benefit from oncology implementation?
-Unlike HIV, TB, malaria or other infectious disease programs, oncology requires a system to serve a patient. Many aspects of the oncology system (for example, pathology, radiology, radiation oncology, surgery, nursing) can serve a large diversity of patient disease types simultaneously. It is not practical to have a laboratory that only diagnoses breast cancer, for example. So, in implementing oncology systems, we are learning how to improve the overall healthcare system and enabling the treatment of a diversity of patient disease types.
